Events

The Writers’ Guild of Alberta hosts monthly events to give our members and those interested in joining a chance to get away from their writing desk to socialize with other writers, talk about what’s happening in the book world and learn more about the Writers’ Guild of Alberta. These events also feature informed presenters who talk about specific aspects of writing.

See the listings below for upcoming events. Full details available at the links in the titles of individual events. Details may be subject to change; please confirm with the office and if you have any questions you can reach us at [email protected].

JUNE

WGA Annual Conference: Shifting Creative Gears (in-person and online): June 3 – 5, 2022. After two years of trying new digital programs to adapt our literary world to the pandemic, we are now looking at how our creative lives might shift going forward—perhaps we won’t return to “normal,” but instead take the things we learned during the pandemic to create a new vision of the literary world for the future. In the spirit of shifting gears, we are planning a hybrid format for this year’s conference, offering online programming on all three days plus select in-person activities in four Alberta hubs.  Your conference registration includes access to all activities June 3 – 5. You may attend any of the in-person hubs plus any of the online activities, or attend online activities only.

For full details or to register, please visit the conference page here. Early bird rates are available until April 29th, 2022: $140 for WGA Members, $175 for Non-members, $115 for students. Regular rates (after April 29th) will be: $175 for WGA Members, $205 for Non-members, $135 for students.
