The WGA is excited to support the VERS/E Queer Poetry Open Mic. Join Edmonton queer writers on the first Wednesday of every month, September through April, at Felice Cafe.
Doors & open mic sign-up start at 6:00 PM MT, and poetry starts at 6:30 PM MT. October’s feature is Teren Hazzard!

About the Feature: Teren Hazzard is a transgender writer living on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton). He is a University of Alberta student studying Conservation Biology and writing for both The Gateway and YouAlberta. His poetry explores the everyday experience of being queer and can be found in the Queer Toronto Literary Magazine, Beyond Queer Words, and Transit in Motion bus art. His poem, “Dance with Us, Girly Girl,” was the winner of the 2025 Centre for Literature in Canada Poetry Contest and his debut narrative poetry collection, Penguins Fly, was published in April 2026. He has been an active member of the Edmonton writing community and has enjoyed VERS/E events for 2+ years.
