Biography

Shirley A. Serviss is the author of three poetry collections, Model Families (1992), Reading Between the Lines (2000), and Hitchhiking in the Hospital (2005), and co-editor of two anthologies, Study in Grey (1999) and Women's Words (2013). Her poetry, essays and articles have been widely published in literary magazines, textbooks and anthologies. She facilitates writing workshops on poetry, memoir, personal essays and non-fiction and gives presentations on her work as the staff literary artist for the Friends of University of Alberta Hospitals. Shirley has a Masters degree in Theological Studies (St. Stephen's College, 1997), a BA in English (University of Alberta, 1980) and a Diploma in Broadcasting (Mount Royal College, 1974).
