Biography

I have published 18 books for young adults and children. I also write short stories. I was a finalist for the 2021 CBC Non-Fiction Prize for my story "Funhouse Mirrors," and won the Alberta Literary Awards' Ross Annett Award and the Writers Union of Canada Writing for Children Award. I have previously been a finalist for the 2017 Governor General's Literary Awards, the Alberta Literary Awards and nine times for provincial children's choice awards. I am represented by Hilary McMahon of Westwood Creative Artists.

I currently work as a Writing Advisor/Editor with the University of Alberta's Academic Success Centre, and as a Manuscript Evaluator for the Writers' Guild of Alberta. I have substantial freelance editing experience, have taught at the university level, and have been a writing mentor. I have volunteered in Edmonton with the Zebra Child Protection Service as a Child Advocate and served on the Board of Directors for the Centre for Family Literacy and the Young Alberta Book Society.
