Biography | When Karen was growing up on a farm in north central Alberta, she travelled the world through books but didn't actually go very far. And she never considered being a writer. Working at the local public library gave Karen the itch to try writing. When she did, she was instantly hooked. A few years ago she retired from managing the library and now writes full time. Karen never did get around to using that BA in psychology from UVic, except for childrearing and creating characters. Now she visits schools and libraries when she can, and always has at least one writing project on the go. She lives in northwest Alberta with her husband and two cats. Their adult children have all flown the nest, and most of their stuff is finally out of the basement. Talk to her and you'll find she is usually plotting a story that involves having to travel somewhere to do research. |
