Biography | Jacqueline Guest is an international award winning author with thirty published novels and short stories. She has presented across Canada and the United States to audiences of all ages including the American Library Association, the American Indian Library Association, University of Calgary, Manitoba Association of Teachers of English, Alberta Association of Library Technicians, MASC Conference Ottawa, University of Victoria, Cultural Diversity Institute, North Central Teachers Association, Young Alberta Book Society, Wordsworth and Youthwrite Writing Camps, the Dreamcatcher Aboriginal Conferences, Saskatoon Reading Council Teachers Conference, Batoche Historical Site, the Edmonton Young Offenders Centre, Back to Batoche Days, Fort Calgary's Metis Cultural Festival, plus hundreds of schools and libraries. Jacqueline also volunteers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Accra, Ghana, where she teaches eager adults how to create stories for their own young readers to enjoy. Jacqueline has been the Creator-in-Residence for CANSCAIP, Writer in Residence for the Marigold Library System and the International Spanish Academy in Calgary. She is the proud recipient of the Indspire Award for the Arts. Her novels have been nominated and/or won numerous awards in Canada and the United States. Her curriculum based school presentations, which tie in with her novels, have even reluctant students reading. Jacqueline has mentored new writers and championed literacy for many years. Her body of work spans many genres including middle grade, young adult, high interest/low vocabulary, short stories, levelled reading and magazine articles. Jacqueline lives on Vancouver Island where she and her computer are working on a new novel for young readers to enjoy. |
