Biography | There is a desk in the loft of Joan's house overlooking the Rocky Mountains. A rocking chair welcomes family, friends and fellow writers to join her with a cup of coffee. Joan has published in literary magazines across Canada and has two books: 'Revolutions' (Leaf Press 2008) and 'Folding the Wilderness Within (Frontenac House 2014). Her new book of poems will be launched in September 2020. |
Publications | Joan's poems have been published in Room of One's Own, Freefall Magazine, Prairie Journal, Grain, The Fiddlehead, The Antigonish Review, CV2, Prairie Fire, Calgary Public Library Short Story Dispenser and anthologized in Crossing Place Anthology 2003, Writing the Terrain U of C Press 2005, Home and Away, Blue Skies Poetry, 2009, Home and Away, Blue Skies Poetry, 2009, 40 Below Anthology 2013. Her interviews and reviews with Evelyn Lau, Paul Zits, Bruce Hunter and Max Layton have been published in Freefall Magazine. Her first book of poetry, 'Revolutions' (Leaf Press 2008) is about the last Tsar of Russia and his family as they journey through their reign. 'Folding the Wilderness Within' (Frontenac 2014) explores the 'threshold of ordinary' that shows the gleaming moments in all our small lives, anchored in the detritus of daily routine. Her next poetry collection (Frontenac House) will be launched in September 2020. |
