Biography | Blaine Newton is an Alberta playwright, sketch writer, actor and improviser. An award-winning playwright with productions across Western Canada and an audience of well under a million people, his recent productions include: The Kyleness of Kyle (Cursive Writing Productions), Bravo (Shadow Theatre), The Thin Grey Line (Cursive Writing Productions), Five Stages of Death (Cursive Writing productions) and Oral Fixations, co-written with author Leslie Greentree (Ignition Theatre). His monologues, short fiction and poetry have been featured on CBC Radio and published in numerous literary anthologies and magazines.
When not bragging about himself in the third person, heês a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, a past-president of the Writersê Guild of Alberta, and served two terms as president of Alberta Playwrightsê Network.
