Biography | Mari Sasano has been a freelance writer in Edmonton for over a dozen years. Her work has been published in daily, weekly, and monthly newspapers and magazines. She is also the festival manager for Avenue Goes to the Dogs, a festival for dogs. As a writer, Mari has covered a wide variety of fields, from arts reporting (film, theatre, music, visual arts, dance) to lifestyle features on topics ranging from mental health issues to food. Her coverage of mental health issues for the Edmonton Journal was recognized by the Canadian Mental Health Association with a Media Award in 2010. Creative projects include A VERY Grouchy Dragon, a TYA play commissioned for Concrete Theatres Sprouts Festival as well as various short stories, short films and videos. |
