Biography

Duane is a native of Bellevue, Alberta and currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta. He is a national award-winning writer and photographer whose articles and photographs have appeared in many outdoor publications and newspapers in Canada and the United States. Duane is the (former) North County and Alberta North field editor for The Canadian Fly Fisher magazine. He is a Past President of the Outdoor Writers of Canada and served on their Board of Directors for eight years. Duane retired as the director of Albertaês fisheries management branch. He worked as a regional director, regional fisheries biologist, and fishery scientist for Albertaês Fish and Wildlife Division. He is certified as a Fisheries Scientist by the American Fisheries Society. He represented Alberta on the National Recreational Fishery Awards Committee, and was Vice Chairman of this committee until it was terminated in 2017.

Publications

He has authored over 950 magazine articles and five award winning books: Fish & Wild Game Recipes (2006), Conservation Pride and Passion the Alberta Fish and Game Association 1908-2008 (2008) which he co-authored with Don Meredith, The Cowboy Way (2014), and Fishing Northern Canada for Lake Trout, Grayling and Arctic Char (2015) co-edited with Ross H. Shickler which took 1st place in the Outdoor Writers of Canada 2017 book awards and The Canadian Cowboy Cookbook (2014) which he co-authored with Jean Par_ and G. Lepine. He is the author of Canadian Fly Fishing - Hot Spots & Essentials (2017) that was published by Partners Publications. He also co-authored Rodeo Roundup published by Agenta Press with Wendy Pirk in 2017. His eight book, Hunting Alberta, was published by Wild Country Press in 2019.

Awards

He is a honourary member of the Great Plains Fishery Workers Association. He was bestowed an Alberta Order of the Bighorn Award as a member of the Bow Habitat Station Core Committee in 1998, Albertaês foremost conservation award.

He has won several Outdoor Writers of Canada awards for his books, photographs and publications.

Duane Radford received the Henry Lembicz Award ( Clean Air, Clean Land and Clean Water) and from the Alberta Fish & Game Association in 2017.

Duane received the Peter McGillen Award from the Outdoor Writers of Canada in 2017 is highest award.

Keith Rae (deceased) and I received the Henry Lembicz "Clean Air, Clean Land, Clean Water" award from the Alberta Fish and Game Association (AFGA) in 2016.

He received the Fulton Award from the AFGA, its highest award and the Canadian Wildlife Federation Roderick-Haig Brown Award in 2019.

Memberships

He is a member of the Alberta Fish & Game Association, as well as a former Director and Vice President of the Edmonton Trout Fishing Club.
