| Biography | Samantha (Sam) is a writer of mixed white settler and Black Canadian heritage based in Moh'kins'tsis (Calgary), Alberta on Treaty 7 territory. Her poetry is published in Room, Grain, CV2, Watch Your Head, New Forum, GeoHumanities, and elsewhere, and her visual OCD poetry chapbook, Site Orientation, was published in 2022 by the Blasted Tree. She also writes non-fiction including personal essay and profiles (Arctic, THIS) and literary reviews (Arc Poetry, Literary Review of Canada). Sam is the founder and facilitator of the Diverse Voices Roundtable for BIPOC Writers at the Alexandra Writers' Centre Society in Calgary, where she also instructs workshops on selected poetry and writing topics. She has a background in the geosciences and is currently a PhD Candidate in Geography at the University of Calgary. |
