Biography

Vina Nguyen is a queer, Vietnamese Canadian settler living in MohêkÍnêstsis on Treaty 7 territory (Calgary, Alberta). Her story, –We Are the Boatês People,” was the 2020 creative nonfiction winner of Briarpatchês Writing in the Margins contest. Her writings have found homes in The Selkie, FEED, antilang., and others. Sheês crafted two music EPs with Vina After Dark and is working on a novel about disappearing, identity, and misplaced love. After her adventures in biological sciences, medicine, and education, writing stories and songs centred on emotional honesty have become the lifeblood of her work. She works as a substitute teacher in the public school system.
