HANK and other Mild Neighbours
Janet Lee Hamilton
Edmonton history, neighbourhood stories, childhood memories
HANK and Other Mild Neighbours is a local publication of vignettes from a central community in Edmonton. These short chapters about neighbours are based on historical recollections and my intuitions. My book aims to bring awareness to the City of Edmonton 107 Avenue Revitalization Project. The plan is to improve the 107 area from 101 Street to 122 Street to help enhance community connections and address concerns noted by residents. According to the website, construction will begin in the spring of 2024 and will follow the guidelines of CPTED ( Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). This central area is typically described as where the world meets in Edmonton.
It always has been as noted in my book!
All author proceeds donated to Aboriginal Head Start Edmonton sites ( Melissa Nollski Program Manager/Executive Director). The Head Start program will build an early childhood library of Indigenous stories with book donations. Book Launch is tentatively planned for Monday, November 18 in the evening at the historic Grinnell Warehouse at 11340-120 Street NW. More information to come!
