Richard William Quinlan
Eco-fiction for adult and teens
'Unearthing the Muddy Truth' is an eco-fiction story. Basil is eco-despaired, feeling unable to influence global and local environmental issues. Jessica becomes frustrated by his attitude. Their disagreement is interrupted by finding a surprising object in contaminated mud along a creek. The discovery starts a search for the source of both the object and the pollution. They become eco-detectives. Finding out about a suspicious scheme, they confront shady operators at a project site on the muskeg. Can they stop the destruction of the peatlands and the amazing thawing beasts that are being revealed in the melting permafrost? Will Basil and Jessica’s friendship survive? Along the way, their indigenous friend provides environmental insight from a unique perspective. Both adults and teens will enjoy this journey along a trail to nature awareness and environmental commitment.
