Notes

The River Bottom Writers is an active group – in that we meet weekly. But we might seem less so as we have two divisions. We meet (most often) in the Richardson Oilseed Room at the Lethbridge College and our meetings begin at 7PM sharp. Writers are encouraged to come early to socialize, the doors are open at 6:30. Occasionally, the college moves us to a classroom when they have a large event and the room is needed.

1st Thursdays – Presentation Night – Members and outside writers or editors present on a writing topic. Unless the outsider presenter charges as fee, there is no fee for the presentation.

2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursdays – Writing practice group – no fee. In this group we write for an hour and then share our writing in the second hour. Each member takes a turn bringing either word, object or picture prompts to inspire the muse, however people do not have to use them. Everyone is just encouraged to write. People can take the time to work on projects / novels / etc. – the focus of this group is to write. Sharing is not mandatory though it is encouraged.

Critiquing happens on an as needed basis. We encourage writers to contact at least three other members for an in depth critique of their work. Smaller works can be posted to our Facebook page or emailed to members as needed.

Writers of all levels are welcome!

5th Thursday – (4 times a year) we have a social night – with stories and pot luck finger foods (appetizers or desserts).
