WriteClick is a weekly e-mail newsletter sent to Writers’ Guild of Alberta members every Wednesday (every other Wednesday in July and August). It features up-to-date information about upcoming WGA events and programs, as well as other literary events across Alberta, writing courses, conferences, markets and contests, job postings, volunteer opportunities, and more.
Submission Guidelines
Alberta writers and organizations may submit listings of literary events such as book launches, signings, readings, courses, workshops, retreats, conferences, and other related events. Critiquing groups looking for members are also welcome to submit listings.
Book publication announcements are listed in the member-to-member section WriteClick, but WGA members may also submit their book announcements to the Members News section of WestWord. For book announcements, you can also use the Tell Us About Your Books form to include your book announcement on the Member Books page, WriteClick, and/or WestWord using a single form (see here for more details and the form).
Please use this form to submit writing events, markets, and contests to WriteClick, or send the following details to [email protected]:
- Name of event
- Date and time of event
- Venue and address of event
- Admission fee (if it’s free, please indicate)
- Deadline for registration, if applicable
- Description of event, maximum four lines
- Website/contact for more information
- When you wish the listing to run and for how many weeks (note: we can keep listings in for up to 4 weeks at a time due to spacing issues)
We can also list job postings and volunteer opportunities in WriteClick. Job postings may be listed in their entirety, without editing for length.
Please submit listings no later than 9:00 am on the Wednesday that you wish the listing to appear. Listings submitted after that time may still make it into that week’s edition, but are not guaranteed.
