Join us for a full-day retreat designed to nourish your creative process. Writing exercises, inspiring prompts, and focused discussion will get your juices flowing and keep you motivated for days and weeks afterwards. Come and spend the day in the supportive company of your fellow writers; all styles and genres of story-telling are welcome.
About the Facilitator
Conni is an award-winning writer working in theatre, film and television. Recent stage credits include Dead Letter, Matara and The Invention of Romance (all three premiered by Workshop West Playwrights Theatre), Fresh Hell (Shadow Theatre), and her widely produced stage adaptations of W.O Mitchell’s Jake and the Kid and Bruce Allen Powe’s The Aberhart Summer. Conni has worked as a writer and story editor on television series such as Horse Warriors, Mentors, The Beat, North of 60, The Adventures of Shirley Holmes, Taking it Off and Family Restaurant. Published work includes essays, short fiction, seven plays and a full-length comic memoir, Roadtripping: On the Move with the Buffalo Gals. Her writing has been recognized by awards and nominations from the Betty Mitchell Awards, the Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards, the Alberta Film and Television Awards, the Academy of Cinema and Television, the Writers Guild of Alberta, the Writers Guild of Canada, and the Alberta Playwrights Network Playwriting Contest. A recipient of a Queen’s Jubilee Medal (for contributions to the arts), Conni was also honoured as one of 100 people who have made a contribution to Alberta theatre in the last one hundred years.
