(YEG) November Member Night- NaNoWriMo Takeover

Wednesday, November 6. This is a free event
The Almanac on Whyte. 10351 Whyte Avenue
6:00pm: Special NaNoWriMo Write-in
7:30pm: Program begins

What is NaNoWriMo? November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). During the month of November writers across the world take up the challenge of trying to write a 50,000 word novel during the 30 days of November. That’s an average of 1666 words per day, for anyone wondering. Every year dozens of Edmonton writers join in the challenge of NaNoWriMo and in this event we are going to talk with some of them and find out what it takes to survive the month and get some tips on how to succeed and where you can go to find other NaNoWriMo events and writers across the city and province to help keep you motivated and energized to summit the peak of Novel Mountain.

For this special NaNoWriMo takeover we are asking those of you taking part in the NaNoWriMo challenge to join us a little early (6pm) at the Almanac for some extra writing time, motivation, and maybe group therapy if needed. At 7:30 the program will begin and we’ll talk about the pros and cons of writing a novel or most of a novel in a single month. We’ll also talk with other writers who took a bit longer to complete their novel projects and how that worked for them and how it affected their sanity.

Whether you’ve written zero novels or ten novels or have written one in 30 days or 30 years, this event is for you.
