The third Monday in January is supposedly the most depressing day of the year. Part pseudoscience, part marketing stunt, the validity of these claims are difficult to prove but writers in Alberta are certainly not immune to mental health issues. Despite the dubious title we writers could use a day in January to talk about mental health in our writing and in our lives.

Join us for an evening of writers in support of mental health.

If you tackle these issues in your writing or elsewhere and would like to perform or speak at this event please contact Programs and Events Coordinator Jason Norman at [email protected].

Alexis Kienlen is a poet, fiction writer, agricultural journalist and freelance writer. She has published two books of poetry, “She dreams in red” and “13”. She has also written a biography of a Sikh civil rights activist. Her first novel, Mad Cow, is forthcoming in Spring 2020.

Amy Willans‘ written work has been published in The Globe and Mail, Standing Together: Women Speak Out about Violence and Abuse; Transition magazine, published by the Canadian Mental Health Association in 2007; and in various journals and anthologies.
