WGA Presents: Noir at the Kasbar! (Edmonton)

Join Greg Bechtel (author of Boundary Problems), Wayne Arthurson (author of Fall from Grace and A Killing Winter, both Leo Desroches mysteries), and S.G. Wong (author of the Lola Starke series: Die on Your Feet, In for a Pound, and Devil Take the Hindmost) for an evening of twists, double-takes, and intrigue.

Greg Bechtel’s stories have appeared in several magazines and anthologies, including Avenue Edmonton, The Fiddlehead, Prairie Fire, and Imaginarium 4: The Best Canadian Speculative Writing. His first story collection, Boundary Problems, won the BPAA Alberta Book of the Year Award for trade fiction and was a finalist for the ReLit Award, the William L. Crawford Fantasy Award, and the City of Edmonton Robert Kroetsch Book Prize. Currently, he is serving as 2016-2017 Writer in Residence for the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Authors’ Association, and he welcomes inquiries and/or submissions of work-in-progress from all Alberta writers at [email protected]. S.G. Wong writes alternate history, hard-boiled detective stories that also include ghosts and magic. Her work has been shortlisted for the Arthur Ellis Awards for Excellence in Canadian Crime Writing and nominated for the Whistler Independent Book Awards. She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada, Writers’ Guild of Alberta, and is the current President of Sisters in Crime—Canada West.

 

 

 

Wayne Arthurson is an Edmonton based indigenous novelist/musician, author of the award-winning Leo Desroches series including Fall From Grace, A Killing Winter and Blood Red Summer, and the new Camp 133 series, Traitors of Camp 133. He was the 2016 Writer in Residence for the Edmonton Public Library and won the 2012 Alberta Readers Choice award.
