Whoever said that April was the cruelest month (T.S. Eliot) probably wasn’t the funniest person on the planet, but you know who is? Our three special guests for the WGA Edmonton event. Three writers who are funny and who use humour in their writing and present it in three completely different styles. Join us on Tuesday, April 2nd as we listen to three funny writers talk about using humour in their work and make April a little less cruel.
Leslie Greentree’s new short story collection, Not the Apocalypse I Was Hoping For, came out in September, 2022 with University of Calgary Press and was shortlisted for a 2023 High Plains Book Award. An earlier short story collection, A Minor Planet for You, won the 2007 Howard O’Hagan Prize for Short Fiction; she is also the author of two poetry books: go-go dancing for Elvis,which was shortlisted for the 2004 Griffin Prize for Poetry, and guys named Bill.
Ellie Heath is an artist of many hats. Based in Edmonton, AB (Treaty 6 Territory), this multidisciplinary creative is making waves with her original songs, sketch comedy and solo theatre.
Celeste Lampa has become a favourite in Western Canada’s comedy scene. Her material stems from being a first generation Filipino-Canadian, a mom, a wife; and being tired. Her talent has lead her to work with some of today’s best comics. She’s performed all across Canada and the United States, and has been featured at the SheDot Comedy Festival in Toronto and The Grindstone Comedy Festival in Edmonton.
