WGA 2023 Spring One-Day Retreat: Map Your Creative Future

Nurture your commitment to your artistic ambitions at this forward-looking retreat for writers. Award-winning and bestselling author Joan Marie Galat will share her journey to publication and guide you in making a focused plan to move you toward achievable writing and publishing goals. Whether you have publishing credits or are just starting out, leave distractions behind and enjoy this opportunity for creativity and community as you embark on a mission to define personal success at this power-packed retreat.

For this retreat, the WGA will provide you with the following materials: 

  • notebook 
  • pen
  • a pack of square sticky notes

There will be a Meet & Greet and Author’s Journey Talk on Saturday, March 18th , from 6 PM – 8 PM (venue details will be included with confirmation of registration). The WGA will provide appetizers while retreat participants have the opportunity to meet and network with one another.

**Attendees interested in additional career coaching can later take advantage of a discounted WGA rate on an individual half-hour virtual session with Joan Marie Galat to discuss querying, revisions, or other aspects of writing and publishing.

Participants are encouraged to wear masks during the retreat at Yorath House.

Cost

  • WGA Members $150
  • Non-Members $200

**Limited bursary funding is available for this retreat. Please indicate in the form below if you wish to apply for a bursary. Bursaries typically cover 25% – 75% of the registration fee.

Facilitator

Joan Marie Galat is the author of more than 25 books for children and adults. Her titles include Solve This! Wild and Wacky Challenges for the Genius Engineer in You (National Geographic Kids), Mortimer: Rat Race to Space (DCB) and Dot to Dot in the Sky, Stories of the Aurora (Whitecap Books)—a Crystal Kite Award winner. A freelance writer and editor, she also provides consults on getting published and corporate training including workshops on plain language writing and other topics. www.joangalat.com
