Fiction, Historical, Christian
This is a story about a young heiress in Victorian England who is wrongfully convicted of jewellery theft, by her stepbrother, Howard Stillwater. He is desperate for funds to pay off his gambling debts to a London loan shark, and needs to sell Bethany's family estate for the money. Through manipulation of the court system, he is able to get her convicted and sent off to a penal colony in western Australia for seven years. However, soon after she leaves, he finds out that he can only manage, not sell, the estate while she is still alive. So he arranges for an assassin to sail down and make sure she never returns to Britain. But God has other plans and Bethany survives not one, but two attempts on her life. Through this journey, Bethany finds that, although her faith is weak at times, God is always present with her, and that He has plans to work out everything for her good, including marriage to the man of her dreams..
