Renowned Canadian author W.O. Mitchell was passionate about finding the best ways to support emerging writers and helping them find their voices. The WGA has been named the beneficiary of his royalties, and the W.O. Mitchell Scholarship endowment fund has been established through the Edmonton Community Foundation to ensure writers will continue to be held up and supported by his legacy.
We have an initial fundraising goal of $10,000 to get the fund started. We hope that through the donations and royalties the fund will eventually grow to be able to support a novelist and a playwright in the Mentorship Program each year.
