The open mic is open to anyone. Sign-up begins at 6:45 PM MT.
About the Feature: Rea Tarvydas lives and writes fiction in Edmonton, Alberta. Her stories can be found most recently in The New Quarterly, and in assorted anthologies. Work is forthcoming in the WHATEVER Anthology, a collection of Gen-X writing (Dundurn, 2027). Her first book of interconnected short stories HOW TO PICK UP A MAID IN STATUE SQUARE was published by Thistledown Press (2016). She has studied writing at MRU, U of C, Banff Centre, Humber School for Writers, and, most recently, UCLA (Extension), where she completed a film screenwriting certificate. Tarvydas’ current projects include a novel, a collection of short stories, and a pilot (on-spec) for TV/streaming.
The pub night follows directly after the Queer Writers’ Collective meeting from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM MT.
About Edmonton Pub Night
Edmonton Pub Nights take place on the third Wednesday of the month at Rooster Bar & Kitchen on Whyte Avenue, Edmonton. The venue is accessible by wheelchair through the front entrance. There is paid parking available on Whyte Avenue through the City of Edmonton and various commercial lots as well as for free in some surrounding neighbourhoods.
You do not need to be a member of the Writers’ Guild of Alberta to read at the open mic. All genres are welcome, but spots are limited. Sign-up begins at 7:00 PM MT, and we do our best to give everyone a chance to read by asking that you please keep your reading to three minutes or less.
