Our annual Banff Retreat is now open for registration! This self-guided retreat is a great opportunity to connect with fellow writers and enjoy uninterrupted writing time among amazing scenery at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.
The retreat provides accommodation in a private room (with a desk), a meal plan, use of Banff Centre amenities including complimentary access to the Sally Borden recreation centre, welcome and farewell receptions, evening readings, and access to the Writer in Residence. We are in the process of selecting two Writers in Residence and will make the announcement in October 2017.
Full Retreat (February 2 – 11, 2018): $1100 WGA members, $1180 non-members (non-member rate includes one-year membership)
Half Retreat (February 2 – 6 or February 7 – 11, 2018): $675 WGA members, $755 non-members (non-member rate includes one-year membership)

Bursary availability is contingent on donations. If you wish to apply for a bursary, please email us at [email protected] and we will be in touch if we have funds available. Retreat costs may be eligible for funding from arts granting agencies such as Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Edmonton Arts Council.
How to Register
Please use the form below to register. You will be directed to a payment page after submitting the form where you may pay online with a credit card, but payment can also be made by cheque or phone. If you are unable to use the form, please contact us at [email protected] or 780.422.8174 (1.800.665.5354 toll free Alberta only) and we will make other arrangements.
The form allows you to save your information and finish later if you are unable to finish all at once, but please note that choosing Save and Continue Later does not hold a spot for you in the retreat. The WGA does not receive your registration until you choose Submit. Registration is first-come, first served, so register early to avoid disappointment!
If your registration has been received safely, you should receive an automatic confirmation email. If you do not receive the email and it is not in your spam folder, please let us know because in that case your registration may not have gone through.
If you wish for a Writer in Residence to give a consultation on a piece of writing, the manuscript must be submitted in advance. The deadline for registration materials, payment, and manuscript submission is Wednesday, December 13, 2017. More information and reminders about manuscript submission will be sent to participants in advance of the deadline.
