Readings and interactive discussions on writing for children will be held for the first half of the afternoon, followed by immersive writing exercises around the themed rooms in the Little Red Reading House.
Come and connect with other lovers of children’s literature, learn from professional authors on writing both fiction and non-fiction for all ages, and become inspired for your own writing.
Shenaaz is an internationally published author with thirteen award winning novels, short stories, and picture books. She holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College in the USA. Her novel, Child of Dandelions, was a finalist for the Governor General in Children’s literature. Born in Kenya, she has lived in Calgary for over four decades.
Janet Gurtler’s teen books have been chosen for the JUNIOR LIBRARY GUILD SELECTION and as BEST BOOKS FOR TEENS from the Canadian Children’s Book Centre. She’s written over twenty books for teens and children and recently edited an anthology about the MeToo movement. Janet is also the author of non-fiction books for the education market, including a series about living in Canada. Janet lives in Calgary, and is walked daily by her British Cream Golden Retriever named Betty White.
