Presented by the Writers’ Guild of Alberta and the Book Publishers Association of Alberta. Four writers each present a mock pitch to a publisher in front of an audience to demonstrate how a typical (or atypical) publisher meeting might go for them. Followed by a Q&A.
The esteemed writers in the hot seat are:
MYRL COULTER, award-winning author of three books, most recently The Left-Handed Dinner Party and Other Stories (University of Alberta Press 2017).
LISA MARTIN, award-winning poet and essayist. Her most recent book is Believing is not the same as Being Saved (University of Alberta Press 2017).
DARRIN HAGEN, award-winning playwright, actor, sound designer, composer, performer, director and TV host. He is currently Edmonton Public Library’s writer in residence.
MICHAEL HINGSTON, journalist and best-selling author. His next book is about Calvin and Hobbes, and will be published by ECW Press in the spring of 2018. He is currently Metro Writer in Residence.
Writers will “pitch” to Matt Bowes of NEWEST PRESS, and Julie Yerex and Netta Johnson of STONEHOUSE PUBLISHING.
