Play with Words. Play With Art with Shantelle Simone Landry (week one and two)

Shantelle Simone Landry

 Performer. Writer. Artist.

Shantelle is an avid performer, writer and artist. With acting, dance and clown as a background, she brings a very physical and sensory approach to her writing – interspersing movement and writing to let one inspire the other.

She was most recently seen in The Antidote (co-written with Diana Kolpak) which premiered at the Toronto Festival of Clowns and will now travel to the Edmonton Fringe Festival, then back to Toronto for a full run and then (fingers crossed) to Vienna’s clownin Festival!

In her spare time, Shantelle likes to create. Whether it be painting (acrylic on canvas), sewing, crafting, or most recently – wire sculpture, she enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with mixed medias.

With almost every one of her projects, there is an element of writing. She created her first hard cover journal out of recycled restaurant menus and has since gone on to explore other methods of journal making – from retro to renaissance. She finds joy in resting her words in her own work.

Join her in the play with words. Play with art. Just play.

It’s the best approach to any project.
