If you’re aged 16-25 and are looking for opportunities to put your writing
out there – and gain publishing credits – then we’ve got just the ticket for
you. Shorthand, Canada’s youth lit zine, is accepting submissions in all
genres for inclusion. Poetry, short fiction, novel excerpts, scenes from
plays, graphic stories, creative non-fiction: we want it all, and we’ll
publish selected entries every month, picked by a peer youth editorial
board. The deadline for the January issue is December 15th.

You will be published alongside established Canadian writers sharing their
writing tips and career path, and active emerging writers from our
celebrated mentoring program.

Shorthand is a project of Diaspora Dialogues, a charitable society working
to foster a new literary scene for Canada, as rich and diverse as its
population.

Submission is by email only, limited to 2,500 words, 3 poems or 1 short
play, and must be sent alongside a completed submission form available on
our website or by request.
